Our aim is to guide individuals and organisations through all the steps to be considered in developing multi-user information systems. These involve: assessing needs; setting priorities for action; designing information products; facilitating networking and access to data; and managing data for information and policy needs.

WCMC's Capacity Building programme does this through the provision of advice, supporting materials for biodiversity management, and the following training services:

• Training to help institutions deliver biodiversity information to policy makers,
• Training to help countries meet their obligations under a range of conventions and programmes,
• Workshops tailored to trainers, mid-career professionals and decision-makers,
• A modular postgraduate training course on biodiversity information management,
• Transfer of knowledge through staff exchanges, internships and professional attachments.
