Forest Programme
Marine

Forests are an invaluable natural resource; they help to control the climate, provide us with timber and other products, and are home to well over half of all terrestrial species.

WCMC’s forest programme offers information at national levels to improve management of forests worldwide. It measures forest quality, biodiversity in tropical forests and addresses problems that countries with limited forest resources face.

The first to produce global maps of tropical moist forest, and existing forests, WCMC continues to be a world-leader in the provision of forest data, digitally and in other indicative forms. WCMC is currently assessing the extent and status of tropical montane cloud forests.
