Academic Advisement

Doctoral candidates meet with their advising professors at their affiliating universities. In individual cases, exceptions may be made if a candidate wishes to be advised by an alternative professor or at an alternative university.
It is recommended that in either case, candidates seeking financial assistance for the doctorate programme with a focus in biomedicine should first contact one of the following advising professors.

Scholarships

Candidates in the doctoral programme focus biomedicine can receive financial assistance through scholarships granted in accordance with the funding guidelines of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research irrespective of the candidate’s income or personal living situation. The scholarship awards a monthly sum of € 1050, in addition to a monthly sum of € 100 for related/additional expenses during the standard funding term. Initially, scholarships are granted for one year and then may be extended up to three years. Financial assistance beyond these three years is not available.

Application Requirements

• Expeditious completion of Undergraduate Studies
• Above Average Coursework and Examination Grades
• A Member of the Protestant Church (exceptions may be made in limited cases)

Applications should include the following:

• A certified copy of your degree
• Curriculum vitae with you signature
• Outline, concept and time plan for completing your dissertation (max. 10 pages)
• Two letters of recommendation from your professors (in most cases, one should be from your advising professor in the doctoral programme focus biomedicine)
• An application photograph of yourself
