Report and Dissenting Opinions, Expert Group, EU Kommission
Ingrid Schneider collaborated in the Report of the EU Commission's expert group "on the development and implications of patent law in the field of biotechnology and genetic engineering". In addition, she wrote two Dissenting Opinions to the Report on Stem Cell Patents and on the Scope of DNA-based Inventions.

Big Data Governance
Prof. Dr. Ingrid Schneider organised and chaired an invited themed session on "IP Governance, Big Data, Data Ownership and Privacy" at the 10th EPIP Conference (European Policy for Intellectual Property), 2‐3 September 2015, in Glasgow, Scotland. The panel included four presentations on "Big Data, IP, Data Ownership and Privacy" by Ingrid Schneider, "Historical Perspectives" by Prof. Andrew Prescott (UK), the "Insights from Technology Assessment (TA)" by Walter Peissl (ITA, Austria), and "the EU's Digital Agenda" by Fabio Domanico, European Commission, Brussels.

Prof. Dr. Ingrid Schneider was invited speaker at the conference "Patents on Life: Through the Lenses of Law, Religious Faith and Social Justice" at the University of Cambridge, 4-5 September 2015 and gave a presentation on "Patent Governance, Ethics, and Democracy".
Lecture Series on Bio-Governance
Prof. Dr. Ingrid Schneider is member of the Hamburg Center for BioGovernance and co-organiser of a lecture series on "New developments in genomics, biotech and information technology as a challenge for regulation" at the University of Hamburg in the summer term 2015.
2014
"Future of Patent Governance" Workshop and Proceedings
Prof. Dr. Ingrid Schneider and Prof. Dr. Esther van Zimmeren, University Antwerp, organised the Conference "The Future of Patent Governance in Europe". The Workshop was funded by the European Science Foundation ESF and took place in Hamburg, 1st to 2nd of September, 2014. Participants were 19 experts from 13 countries and three international organisations. They explored paradigm shifts in European patent governance and their implications for European integration and the international relations. The conference also discussed norms, criteria, and procedures for good governance in the patent system. The proceedings will be published.
Patent Expert Group of the EU Commission
Prof Dr. Ingrid Schneider was appointed by the European Commission as academic member of the "Expert Group on the development and implications of patent law in the field of biotechnology and genetic engineering" on 21 October 2013. The task of the expert group is to provide the EU Commission with analysis and position papers on topics related to the patent Directive 98/44/EC. The expert group is advising the Commission in the preparation of the next monitoring report on the development and implications of patent law in the field of biotechnology and genetic engineering, according to Article 16c of the latter Directive.

A Public Health Perspective“ of The Foundation for Law, Justice and Society at Wolfson College, University of Oxford, on 11 February 2015. Her presentation "Epistemic Communities, Courts, and the Democratic Shaping of Patent Law" is available as Podcast. The workshop report includes policy recommendations.
The EU Unitary Patent and Unified Patent Court
Prof. Dr. Ingrid Schneider was invited speaker at the Conference "The EU Patent Package: Multidisciplinary and International Perspectives". Her presentation "The EU Patent Package - a Governance Perspective" focussed on the Unified Patent Court and the Unitary Patent. The Conference was organised by the Center for Intellectual Property Rights (CIR) of the KU Leuven and the University of Antwerp and took place on 17 October 2014 in the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts in Brussels.
Courts in European Integration
"The role of courts in the policy development in the European multi-level system" was the title of a symposium organized by Prof. Dr. Ingrid Schneider and Prof. Dr. Britta Rehder (University of Bochum) which took place from 27 to 28 of March 2014 in Hamburg.
Big Brother - Big Data EASST 2014
Together with Prof. Ann Rudinow Saetnan (Norway), Prof. Dr. Ingrid Schneider convened the track “Big Brother - Big Data” with 20 paper presentations in five sessions at the 2014 Conference of the European Association for the Study of Science and Technology (EASST), on 17-19 September 2014 in Torún, Poland.
