simple diagram tries to illustrate the basic events which take place in the development of
the Vascular Cambium and Secondary Vascular Tissues. The continuation of meristematic
activity within the Fascicles and the development of the Interfascicular Cambium leads to
the formation of a continuous layer of Vascular
Cambium in the stem. The accumulation of Secondary Xylem leads to the development
of internal pressure. This crushes some cells in the Pith and Phloem. |
