Coleus-8240Lab.jpg (55298 bytes)

Corner region of Coleus stem after a small amount of Secondary Growth. Most of the new growth has been Secondary Xylem. Note the orderly files of Secondary Xylem in the Interfascicular regions. Secondary xylem is generally more orderly than primary xylem. It is not possible to distinguish the new xylem in the major vascular bundle but it is there! The Vascular Cambium is not recognizable and the arrows merely point out its general location.
