The Cortex contains ridges of Sclerenchyma which stains red due to the presence of Lignin.

The canals in the Cortex are called Vallecular Canals. We can call the Cortical Canals.

Chlorenchyma is abundant & the stem is the site of Photosynthesis.

An Endodermis is present. There are three patterns of Endodermal differentiation. It is not important that you memorize these but be aware of them.

The Endodermis can be Continuous on both sides of stele or it may Surround individual bundles or it can be Continuous on outside of stele.
