How to use this electronic resource

http://www.hgmp.mrc.ac.uk/

The UK Human Genome Mapping Project Resource Centre (HGMP-RC) provides access to leading-edge tools for research in the fields of genomics, genetics and functional genomics. It is located on the Hinxton Genome Campus along with the Sanger Centre and the European Bioinformatics Institute.

The HGMP-RC's Mission:

What we do

The HGMP-RC is a body funded by the UK Medical Research Council to provide a Bioinformatics and a Biological service to the UK academic community working on the Human Genome Program and to carry out research in its own right, in a newly formed Research Division.

We also incorporate SEQNET, funded by the BBSRC. The merger means that the HGMP-RC is now the UK's national EMBnet node.

The services we offer

The Biology Services Division provides access to leading edge genomic libraries as well as running hotel services for researchers requiring specialist facilities. The Bioinformatics Division provide a comprehensive service for the research worker, with access to fully updated and correctly formatted databases, together with a very wide range of analytical tools, all ready to use. A helpdesk is also available for registered users.

I have one more request: In preparation of the pkal workshop, I would very much like to learn something about the experience you as a web-author or as the author of university courses presented on the www made. Do, for example, your students like and accept your web-materials?

Yes.

Do they maybe even like the web-courses more than the traditional in-person instruction?

No.

Do you have reason to believe that your web-materials enhances their learning and/or motivation?

No.

Do you have any experience with virtual discussions of course topics?

No.
