Chloroplasts

Several Shapes exist. They can be Large & Laminate (flat) or Small & Ovoid.

They have a Double Membrane.

However, they have one peculiarity that is noteworthy. The Chloroplasts are enveloped by Endoplasmic Reticulum which is continuous with the Nuclear Envelope.

They do not have Grana per se but they have characteristicFucusSand300.jpg (31437 bytes) Stacks of Three Thylakoids.

They have a higher level of chloroplast organization than the Rhodophyta

There are No Phycobillins or Phycobillisomes

They are Eukaryotes and have membrane bound organelles that are Similar to "Higher Plants" .FucusChlColageLab.jpg (71285 bytes)
