Stem Anatomy
is complex compared to the previous taxa we have examined. The Epidermis forms
multicellular Rhizoids
which provide Anchorage & Absorption

There is a Cortex  just inside the Epidermis of Stems & "Rhizomes". It contains Thick-Walled cells which provide Storage & Support.

There is a Central Strand which contains Vascular Tissues. These are called Leptoids (Phloem) & Hydroids
("Xylem").

Support Cells called Sterids are also present. These are like Sclerenchyma Fibers found in seed plants.
