Archegonia are on the Ventral Side &
Hang Upside Down. They are thus
protected from Direct Rainfall & Desiccation.

The Archegonium consists of a long Neck, a Neck Canal and a Venter which contains the Egg.

Fertilization occurs when a Sperm swims through the Neck Canal and joins with the egg.
This is called
Syngamy. (Union of Gametes).
