Protected Areas Programme |
WCMC has been working with information on protected areas since 1981. The following illustrates the type of work WCMC carries out, and some of the information resources that the Centre has access to. It does not cover all current and past activities and does not cover all of the information resources available.
WCMC's work on protected areas is carried out in close collaboration with the World Commission on Protected Areas and the IUCN Programme on Protected Areas. All three organizations have been involved in defining and categorizing protected areas.
