This is what Jay had to say: "These palms seemed to be the most common palm that I came across hiking through the Atlantic Forest, Parque Nacional da Tijuca. Some of these photos may seem a little hazy; this is due to the thick fog that I was hiking in and out of. What was most interesting was at the higher altitudes (above 1000m) some of these palms had their new fronds in a reddish color" (see bottom photo).
