According to the Palms of Madagascar (Dransfield & Beentje), Dypsis lanceolata comes from the Comoro Islands, just north of Madagascar, in mid-altitude rain forest. This is a clumping palm that has wider than normal leaves for a Dypsis. This photo was taken in Orange County, California.
