VEGETATION OF RAISED BOGS IN RUSSIA: DIVERSITY AND STRUCTURE

Tatyana Yurkovskaya, Komarov Botanical Institute, St. Petersburg, Russia

The following aspects of raised bogs are discussed: diversity at the species, phytocoenotic and above-phytocoenotic (pattern) levels, peculiarities of structure, distribution area, relation to zonal and meridional division of vegetation cover as a whole. The total diversity of raised bogs is subdivided into 2 groups: the liverwort-lichen-sphagnum raised bogs and sphagnum raised bogs. Within these groups regional types are delimited at the base of presence - absence of oceanic, suboceanic, continental species. Species diversity of raised bogs is not high: 18-20 species of vascular plants, 30-35 species of mosses, its increasing in the 1st group can be attributed to lichens. Emphasize the role of cartographic method in revealing and estimation of raised bogs diversity.
