EFFECT OF PHYTOHORMONES ON SECONDARY METABOLITES SYNTHESIS IN SUSPENSION CELLCULTURES OF BRYONIA ALBA L.

Susanna Tiratsuyan and Ara Kirakosyan, Yerevan State University 375049 Yerevan, Armenia

The long-passaged suspension cell cultures were established from the callus derived from roots of Bryonia alba L. and the effect of different additions of 2.4 D, kinetin, 6-benzyladenine and a-NAA on the cucurbitacine glucosides production in the cell cultures was investigated. The biosynthesis of cucurbitacines were stimulated by addition of a-NAA and 6-benzyladenine. The comparative analysis of productivity in different cell lines make us to choose L-4 line like most perspective for biotechnological approachs. The growth dynamics and the morphological abilities of L-4 were determined. The subculturing does not influence both on the production of these compaunds and morphology of cultivars. However, the difficulties to increas product yields from cell cultures of B. alba have still to be solved.
