Verbesina L. is a large genus of the Heliantheae Tribe (Asteraceae), that consists of about 300 species of herbs, schrubs and trees, ranging from eastern Canada to central Argentina. In Peru it is represented for approximately 50 species that distribute from 500 m to 4000 m, and require a monographic study, but at the moment we are presenting preliminary synopsis, as a result of the critical revision of hermarium material, and of the last collections proceeding mainly from northern Andes. In addition to this we are presenting its morphology, distribution, ecology, uses and phenology, and we are disscusing their relationships.
