A phytosociological study was carried out on Talinum paniculatum plant community in Kampala (Uganda) in 1998u. This plant community grows mainly in shaded cultivation, postcultivation and also ruderal areas during rainy season. A total number of 78 plant species was recorded, most of them annuals, anemochores and widespread. Generally, this plant community is characterized by two different strata: the upper one, of about 10-30 cm high, is mainly composed of Talinum paniculatum which is the dominant plant species, and the lower one, of about 0-10 cm, which comprises of mainy different plant species . Talinum paniculatum plant community has thus been described as a new association (Talinum paniculati ass. nov.) of Bidention pilosae alliance.
