XVI International Botanical Congess

The newly discovered heterosporous plants from the Upper Cretaceous of Siberia and Kazakhstan represent a distinct line in evolution of heterosporous pteridophytes producing a great number of megaspore tetrads with equally developed megaspores. Characteristic of the group are amphisporous sporangia and elaborate mechanisms of joint dispersal of megaspores and microspores.
