LEAF LITTER DECOMPOSITION AND N-RELEASE OF NITROGEN-FIXING TREE SPECIES

Leaf litter decomposition and N-release of 11 nitrogen-fixing and non-nitrogen fixing tree species were studied. The results showed that nitrogen-fixing tree species have a significant effect of N supply, not only the biological decay coefficient in leaf litter and dry weight losses of leaf litter, but also available N release from leaf litter of nitrogen-fixing tree species were higher than those of non-nitrogen-fixing ones, the former was respectively 1.3 times, 1.5 times and 8.2 times higher than that of the latter.
