THE GENUS SAUSSUREA DC. (ASTERACEAE) ON THE RUSSIAN FAR EAST

On the Russian Far East (RFE) the genus Saussurea is one of the largest within Asteraceae. It includes 51 spp. from 2 subgen.: Theodorea (4 spp.) and Saussurea (47 spp.). Ca. 70 % are E. Asiatic by origin, alpine, subalpine and forest spp., the most abundant on the south part of RFE. S. amara is introduced. Endemic spp. (16): S. ainorum, S. duiensis, S. nupuripoensis (from Sakhalin), S. kurilensis (Kuriles), S. neopulchella (Amur, Ussuri, Sakhalin), S. fulcrata, S. Kolesnikovii, S. porcellanea, S. sovietica, S. Vyschinii (Sikhote-Alinj), S. Kurentzoviae (Ussuri), S. Kitamurana (Sikhote-Alinj, Sakhalin Mts.), S. tomentosa (Bureinsky Mts.), S. Soczavae (Bureinsky Mts., Sikhote-Alinj Mts.), S. kamtschatica, S. pseudotilesii (Kamchatka).
