Our aims were: a) quantified the average levels of 2-tridecanone (2TD) in leaflets of Lycopersicon hirsutum var. glabratum Mill. 'PI 134417', Lycopersicon esculentum Mill. 'TOM 556', and the advanced lines 'TOM 600' and 'TOM 601', b) identified, classified and quantified trichomes on the leaflets of these genotypes, c) evaluate the genotypes resistance to Tetranychus urticae Koch., associated to 2TD present in glandular trichomes. We observed that 'PI 134417' had a 2TD level seven times higher than 'TOM 556'. The lines 'TOM 600' and 'TOM 601' were equal and four times more 2TD than 'TOM 556'. The results suggest that 2TD is present in type VI glandular trichomes.
