XVI International Botanical Congess
It was established that treatment of Photoperiod-sensitive Genic Male-sterile Rice NK58S(PGMR) with long day(LD) induced formation of chloroplasts with incompletely developed thylakoid membrane systems and decline of photochemical activities in newly developed leaves in the sensitive stage of male fertility alteration. Recent studies showed: compared with short day(SD) treatment, LD resulted in lower PS II photochemical activity, lower efficiency of primary conversion of light energy in PS II, as well abnormality in supramolecular architecture of chloroplasts in the 6th leave of PGMR. It was since 6th leave stage that the seedlings began to become sensitive to photoperiod and SD could induce initiation of flower.
