Taxonomic notes

Description

"A tree to 30 m tall, with numerous ascending branches. Bark gray, exfoliating in long strips 10-15 cm. wide. Primary branches spreading, pinnate, in a multi-stemmed U-like pattern. Branchlets in 2-ranks, 6-9 mm. in diameter. Juvenile leaves lanceolate, keeled, 18 mm. long by 2 mm. wide by 1.5 mm. thick, needle-like, pungent, apex incurved. Adult leaves imbricate, lanceolate, keeled, 7-10 mm. long by 1.5-2 mm. wide, needle-like, apex incurved. Female cones not seen. Germination reportedly epigeal" (1).
